Every Life Has a Story. Every Ceremony Should Honor It.

Welcome. I'm Rev. John Silva.

I believe life's most meaningful moments deserve to be honored with intention, compassion, and authenticity.

As an Interfaith Minister and Officiant, I created Silva Lining Ever After to help individuals, couples, and families celebrate life's most important moments in ways that genuinely reflect who they are, what they believe, and what they hold close to their hearts.

Whether I am standing beside a couple as they begin their life together, helping a family honor the life and legacy of someone they love, or creating a ceremony to recognize an important life transition, my approach begins the same way:

I listen.

Why This Ministry Is Personal to Me

Silva Lining Ever After grew from more than a desire to officiate ceremonies. It grew from my own journey through faith, love, family, loss, and discovering what it means to live authentically.

I was raised in a very traditional faith environment where spirituality came with clearly defined expectations. As my life unfolded, however, I found myself asking deeper questions about faith, belonging, acceptance, and what it truly means to walk a spiritual path. Those questions eventually led me beyond the faith tradition of my childhood and into a much broader exploration of spirituality.

Over the years, I discovered wisdom and beauty in many traditions and practices. More importantly, I came to believe that our spiritual journeys are deeply personal. There are many paths to meaning, connection, healing, and the sacred—and no two journeys need to look exactly alike.

My understanding of spirituality was also profoundly shaped by my own journey toward living authentically. My life, including the experience of finding love and building a marriage with my husband, has given me a personal appreciation for the importance of acceptance, belonging, and being welcomed for who we truly are.

Those experiences have helped shape the minister I choose to be. I believe every person deserves a place where their story can be heard and honored. I welcome people of all backgrounds, cultures, faith traditions, spiritual paths, identities, orientations, and family structures.

You do not have to fit into someone else's definition of what love, family, faith, or spirituality should look like for your story to be meaningful and worthy of celebration.

Life has also taught me about loss.

Experiencing the death of my daughter changed me in ways words can never fully express. Grief gave new meaning to the ideas of life, love, remembrance, and legacy. It taught me that when someone we love dies, the ceremony surrounding their passing can be much more than saying goodbye. It can create a sacred space to tell their story, speak their name, honor the love that remains, and recognize the ways their life continues to touch ours.

Through both the joyful and difficult chapters of my own life, I began to recognize a calling:

To stand beside people during the moments that matter.

That calling ultimately led me to interfaith ministry and to create Silva Lining Ever After.

Today, whether I am celebrating two people choosing one another, helping a family honor someone they love, offering a blessing, or recognizing another meaningful life transition, I bring more than words to the ceremony. I bring compassion, curiosity, respect, and an understanding that the moment belongs to you.

I am not here to define your beliefs or tell you what your ceremony should look like.

I am here to listen to your story, honor what is sacred to you, and help create a ceremony that feels genuinely and beautifully yours.

The Meaning Behind Silva Lining Ever After

There is a story behind the name Silva Lining Ever After.

It begins, quite simply, with my name—Silva—and a play on the familiar phrase silver lining: the idea that even through life's challenges and transitions, we can find moments of meaning, hope, connection, and light.

But Ever After holds an even deeper meaning for me.

We often associate ever after with weddings—the beginning of a new chapter, two people choosing one another, and the hope of building a life together.

I believe there is another kind of ever after, too.

It is the love that continues after a moment has passed. The memories we carry. The traditions we pass along. The people who shape our lives. The stories we continue to tell. And the legacy that remains when someone we love is no longer physically beside us.

That is why Silva Lining Ever After is about more than weddings and more than memorials.

It is about honoring the moments that connect the chapters of our lives.

  • The beginning of a marriage.

  • The blessing of a new chapter.

  • A promise renewed.

  • A life remembered.

  • A transition honored.

  • A story celebrated.

Some ceremonies mark a beginning. Others honor an ending. And many recognize the meaningful spaces in between.

Whatever brings us together, I believe ceremony gives us an opportunity to pause—to recognize where we have been, honor where we are, and carry something meaningful with us into what comes next.

Your Story. Your Beliefs. Your Ceremony.

There is no single formula for a meaningful ceremony.

Your ceremony may be traditional or contemporary, religious or spiritual, interfaith or secular. It may incorporate cherished family traditions, cultural practices, meaningful readings, rituals, music, or something completely new.

My role is not to tell you what your ceremony should be.

My role is to learn about you and help create a ceremony that feels authentic to your story.

I proudly welcome people of all backgrounds, beliefs, traditions, identities, orientations, and family structures.

Because whoever you are, whoever you love, and whatever you believe—

There is a place for your story here.

My Promise to You.

I will listen to your story.

I will respect your beliefs and traditions.

I will help you explore possibilities you may not have considered.

I will approach your ceremony with care, intention, and respect.

And together, we will create something meaningful, personal, and unmistakably yours.
